Plot Summary:
There is no plot, just a collection of characters. The book is mostly four-panel gags, like newspaper comics in the U.S. but arranged vertically. There is one longer story: The girls find a cat, and while they are arguing about who will take care of it, the cat runs away.
Character and morality:
The gags center around a group of schoolgirls and their teachers. All characters have exaggerated personalities. The teachers lose their tempers; one girl is very manic; another is a ten-year-old genius who is nonetheless very sweet. One girl comments loudly that a classmate from Osaka does not match the standard stereotypes.
Violence:
Very mild cartoon violence. A cat bites a girl. A teacher hits a group of girls on the head with a rolled-up paper.
Sexuality/body functions:
A new teacher asks the class if they have any questions, then immediately says “No! You cannot ask my bra size!” The girls compare the sizes of their “boobs.” When asked why he went into teaching, a male teacher yells “For the teenage girls! I love `em!” The girls refer to him as a “perv,” and he makes inappropriate comments in subsequent strips--telling the girls to wear swimsuits and to tuck their t-shirts into their shorts, and asking for a glass of the pool water they have all been soaking in. Two of the strips imply that one of the girls, Kaorin, has a crush on another girl, Sakaki. One shows Kaorin getting upset at a photo of Sakaki sleeping next to another girl on vacation. The other shows Kaorin holding Sakaki's hand in a “moment of bliss.” Nothing is explicit in either strip.
